Reading the Consumed Dead: Three Neolithic Caves and the Limits of a Single Explanation
Human bones from three caves near Granada preserve evidence of consumption across roughly fifteen centuries. Their different histories bring collective violence, repeated body processing and possible mortuary ritual into the same discussion. The archaeological problem is no longer simply whether cannibalism occurred, but how confidently its traces can reveal the relationships between the living and the dead.
