About Archaeonews

Archaeonews is your comprehensive source for global archaeology news, aggregating and curating the latest discoveries, research, and developments from around the world.

Our Mission

We aim to make archaeology news more accessible and discoverable by aggregating content from diverse sources worldwide, from academic institutions and museums to science journals and mainstream media. Our platform helps you stay informed about the latest archaeological discoveries, research findings, and cultural heritage news.

What We Do

Global Coverage

We monitor archaeology news from all continents, ensuring representation from diverse regions including Europe, MENA (Middle East & North Africa), Asia, Americas, Africa, and Oceania.

Story Clustering

Our intelligent clustering system groups related articles about the same archaeological story, giving you a comprehensive view of how different sources report on the same discovery or event.

Source Quality

We categorize sources into three tiers: Tier 1 (Academic institutions like INRAP, INAH, IAA), Tier 2 (Science journals like Archaeology.org), and Tier 3 (Mainstream media), helping you identify authoritative sources.

Smart Scoring

Stories are ranked based on source count, source tier, coverage breadth, and freshness, ensuring the most important and widely-reported stories rise to the top.

Advanced Filtering

Filter stories by region, country, topic, time period, and minimum score to find exactly what interests you.

How It Works

  1. Data Collection: We aggregate archaeology news from Google News and other sources using carefully curated keyword lists.
  2. Quality Filtering: Articles are filtered for relevance using keyword matching and trusted source validation.
  3. Enrichment: Each article is enriched with metadata including geographic location, source tier, topics, and entities.
  4. Clustering: Similar articles are grouped into stories, with duplicate detection to avoid redundancy.
  5. Scoring & Ranking: Stories are scored based on coverage breadth, source quality, and freshness.
  6. Presentation: The curated content is presented through an intuitive interface with powerful filtering options.
