Historic sulfur emissions likely cause of damage to Murujuga rock art, new research finds

A three-year scientific monitoring program has found that historic sulfur dioxide emissions and resulting acid rain, not current industrial activity, are the most likely cause of increased porosity damaging ancient petroglyphs at Murujuga in Western Australia's Pilbara region.
