Cosmetic Tooth Blackening Dates Back 2,000 Years in Vietnam

Chemical analysis of stained teeth from the Dong Son–period site of Dong Xa indicates intentional cosmetic blackening using iron-salt pigments. The study pushes firm evidence of the practice back to the Iron Age in Vietnam.
