Proteomic analysis of 23 Homo naledi teeth from South Africa's Dinaledi Chamber found no trace of the male-specific Amelogenin-Y peptide in any of 20 individuals. It is the first molecular sex data ever produced for this species — and it lands squarely on top of an already unresolved argument about how those individuals got into the chamber in the first place.
